Greyhound Handicap ? Historical Performance

Like most serious handicap dog, I'm always going through my old programs to see if I can do everything that will increase my chances of winning "position. Recently, I noticed something about some programs from the spring race at a track in New England. It seemed to me that her race M and A-races of the current dogs were much closer to the form that other races can. I wondered why this was so.

Since M and a dog in the lane to be consistent? Whywould, it seemed, that it runs when the dogs can not run in other races? I was confused and thought about all sorts of reasons why that was, until I suddenly realized that I am looking at this from all the wrong angle.

Not that the dogs were consistent in M ??and A on this route. It is, was that I was better than M and A handicap race at this track. My method of selecting the winner M hindered because the factors that have given the maximumWeight of M games when I seemed to have more disability impacts on M dogs at this track. The same applies to the A race, even though I pointed out several factors for them.

I use a graduated form of disability, which I have developed over the years. Not all handicaps the race for me in the same way, regardless of the degree and distance. In fact, I write a system that deals with this, but I keep getting distracted by text messages and go on the track.

When you are finished,The tiered system will show how differences of degree and the distance makes it impossible to give equal weight to the factors we use for all handicap races M, for example, has a degree in which one factor is more important than any other -. But only a few songs. In other passages, is another factor, if a dog wins or loses is determined.

I realized that race was a factor in M on the trail of New England this spring and used it to select the winners in a selection listmany races M. Unfortunately I lost some ? but not all ? of my winnings on other races as they are difficult for me to track this handicap.

We all have a handicap of style. If you pass the old programs shows that you bet on appearance, I bet you'll find that it is better in some degree or other of you is in the distance. As the dogs that run well in AA or A, but not preferred way sprint race handicappers are few things better than others.

Ford's success stirs UAW resentment in labor talks

(AP) ? Ford's turnaround over the last five years has resulted in big profits and won its CEO a reputation for brilliant management.

But those same achievements are stirring resentment among many of its factory workers. And that is complicating contract talks between the company and its union employees.

At The Rouge, Ford's massive, 94-year-old factory complex in Dearborn, Mich., there's talk along the assembly lines of winning back raises and bonuses lost when the company was near financial collapse in 2007. Workers, who assemble F-150 pickup trucks at the site, are upset that Ford is trying to cut labor costs, especially after nine straight profitable quarters and a $26.5 million pay package for CEO Alan Mulally.

A few miles to the north, inside Ford's 13-story headquarters known as the Glass House, executives are worried because workers, on average, cost the company $58 an hour in pay and benefits, the highest in U.S. auto industry.

Both sides are trying to find a compromise this week while work continues at Ford factories under a contract extension. A top union bargainer told workers on a telephone recording Monday night that talks are accelerating and he is "hopefully optimistic" a deal can be reached this week.

Ford's profits and the possibility of a strike could force the company into a deal that's more generous to workers than the one already negotiated with General Motors Co. Chrysler, meanwhile, continues to negotiate its own contract with the union.

Differences between Ford and the union date to 2007, when all three Detroit automakers were on the verge of financial ruin. The year before that, Ford lost $12.6 billion, and U.S. sales were down 8 percent. Worried that the company would collapse, Ford workers began a series of givebacks.

Like workers at GM and Chrysler, they eventually gave up cost-of-living pay raises, performance bonuses and other benefits. GM and Chrysler needed government bailouts and bankruptcy protection to stay in business, but Ford took billions in private loans and endured on its own.

As a result, Ford became a consumer favorite and the company prospered. It paid Mulally for engineering the turnaround and restored merit pay and some other benefits for white-collar workers, angering union members.

"The compensation for the CEO has been widely publicized, and those kinds of things wend their way up and down the assembly line," says Harley Shaiken, a professor at the University of California at Berkeley and a specialist in labor issues. "It creates higher expectations."

At Ford, bargainers are expected to use the deal with GM as a template. But it's unclear if its provisions will be acceptable to Ford or its union workers. Under the deal, GM workers would get a $5,000 bonus for ratifying the contract, more profit sharing and higher pay for entry-level workers. Although the deal has no pay raise for most workers, it appears headed for approval.

It's the lack of raises that has rankled many of Ford's 41,000 factory workers.

"Ford has to do a lot more," says Gary Walkowicz, a worker at the company's Dearborn plant, the epicenter of union dissent.

Walkowicz says many workers are ready to strike, especially in Dearborn. Workers there led the rest of the company in rejecting a round of concessions in 2009. Ford sought the concessions to match deals given to GM and Chrysler as they were going through bankruptcy protection.

Ford is the only Detroit automaker where the union can strike, something it has not done at Ford since 1976. Walkouts over pay are banned this year at GM and Chrysler Group LLC under the terms of their government bailouts. At Ford plants, workers are making picket schedules in case they need to strike. But getting ready is standard procedure during contract talks.

Gary Chaison, a professor of labor relations at Clark University in Worcester, Mass., says Ford can cut the risk of a strike if it doesn't stray too far from the GM contract. But if Ford tries for big labor cost cuts, the odds of a strike rise to 50-50, he says.

UAW President Bob King has said he's not thinking about a strike. But he thinks workers should get a piece of the profits because they have each given up $7,000 to $30,000 a year in concessions since 2007. He also has called Mulally's pay "outrageous."

Mulally, in a recent interview, defended his compensation, saying it was determined by the company's success and the free market. He said much of his pay is "at risk" because it comes in stock that can rise and fall in price based on Ford's performance. Mulally's salary is $1.4 million, with the rest coming in stock and a bonus.

Ford's white-collar workers say the union complaints about pay are unfounded. Ford compensation records obtained by The Associated Press shows that UAW-represented hourly workers have seen larger increases in pay and benefits over the last decade than many white-collar workers.

And there are Ford factory workers that are happy with the company because they are getting overtime pay and making good money again.

The UAW, according to the records, has protected longtime factory workers from changes to health care, overtime and other benefit cuts that salaried workers were forced to take. Salaried workers pay 30 percent of their health care costs, for example, while hourly workers pay just 6 percent.

The average hourly worker at Ford made $109,020 in 2010, including wages, benefits and overtime, up 17 percent from 1999. But the average salaried factory supervisor made $99,760 in wages and benefits, up just 2 percent in the same period, the records show.

The UAW turned its attention to Ford last week after talks with Chrysler fell apart. Chrysler talks now are back on.

GM workers, meanwhile, are likely to approve their contract in voting that ends Wednesday.

Obama says he can't fix immigration on his own (AP)

WASHINGTON ? Facing weakening support among Hispanics, President Barack Obama expressed deep frustration Wednesday over what he called an inaccurate and damaging perception that he can fix the nation's flawed immigration system on his own.

"This notion that somehow I can just change the laws unilaterally is just not true," Obama said during a White House roundtable targeting Hispanic voters, a key constituency for the president's re-election campaign.

The president said comprehensive immigration reform continues to be a "top priority" for his administration. But he blamed Republicans in Congress for failing to join Democrats in supporting legislation that would address the flow of foreigners into the U.S. and deal with illegal immigrants already in the U.S.

"Only a few years ago, as I said, you had some Republicans who were willing to recognize that we needed to fix our immigration system," Obama said, noting that his predecessor, George W. Bush, was among them. "Right now you do not have that kind of leadership coming from the Republican Party."

A strong majority of Hispanics supported Obama's election in 2008. But his support among Hispanics has declined, as it has in the broader population. A recent Gallup survey found 48 percent of Hispanic voters approving of Obama's job performance, compared with 60 percent in January.

While Obama has made little progress on comprehensive immigration legislation, he has pushed Congress to pass the Dream Act, which would provide a route to legal status for college students and service members brought to the country as children. The bill passed the House last year when it was controlled by Democrats but was blocked by Senate Republicans.

"I think there's been a great disservice done to the cause of getting a Dream Act passed and getting comprehensive immigration passed by perpetrating the notion that somehow by myself I can go and do these things," Obama said. "We have to pass bills through the legislature and then I can sign it."

Democrats view Hispanic voters as a voting bloc in 2012 that could help determine the outcome in swing states such as Florida, Colorado and Nevada. The Democratic National Committee has aired Spanish-language ads in those states in the past week to tout the benefits of Obama's jobs bill for small business and workers in the construction industry, which the DNC said employs 2.77 million Hispanics.

Hispanics accounted for more than half of the U.S. population increase over the last decade, exceeding estimates in most states and totaling 50 million.

The burgeoning Hispanic population, Obama said, means it will only be a matter of time before the country sees a strong Latino candidate for president or vice president.

"I am absolutely certain that within my lifetime we will have a Latino candidate for president who is very competitive and may win," Obama said.

The president spent more than 30 minutes taking questions submitted online, covering topics from U.S. policy toward Cuba to the president's $447 billion jobs bill. Obama said the jobs legislation would have a particularly positive impact on the Hispanic community, which has an unemployment rate of 11.3 percent, compared with the national unemployment rate of 9.1 percent.

Obama also said he believed federal courts would rule "fairly soon" on the Defense of Marriage Act, or DOMA, the law that defines marriage as between one man and one woman. While the White House backs repealing DOMA through Congress, Obama said Wednesday that he does not believe there are enough votes on Capitol Hill to overturn the law.

The president was also pressed on the status of Puerto Rico, where a statehood referendum is planned for next year. Obama said he believes the island will remain a U.S. commonwealth unless there is a "solid indication" of support for statehood.

"If it split down the middle or 51-49, I think Congress' inclination is going to be not to change but to maintain status quo until there is greater indication there is support for change," he said.

It's unclear whether any Republican presidential candidate can sway Hispanic voters. Several top GOP contenders, including former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, have taken a hard line on immigration, calling for a fence and more troops along the border with Mexico to stop the flow of illegal immigrants.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry has been the outlier on immigration in the Republican field, and he is hoping his moderate record will appeal to Hispanics. But his rivals believe Perry's stance on immigration could be a weakness with his party's more conservative wing.

Perry insists that a physical border fence is an impractical way to control the flow of immigrants into the U.S. He also supported a 2001 Texas law that allows the children of undocumented immigrants to receive in-state tuition at Texas universities if they meet certain requirements.

Peptides and proteins have long been an attractive class of drug candidates because of their natural involvement in cellular processes and fewer potential side effects. Dr. Andrei Yudin, Professor, Department of Chemistry, University of Toronto, has developed a new and effective process that makes linear peptides circular, which allows these molecules, called macrocycles, to enter cells more effectively and increase their stability compared to linear peptides. Given their advantageous properties, macrocycles are emerging as a new class of molecules with potential in drug development.

Dr. Yudin and his group's unique ability to efficiently cyclize a broad range of linear peptides provides the opportunity to build a diverse library of macrocycles as possible drug candidates. The Yudin group will build a targeted library of macrocyles and test it for important properties including cell permeability and stability. This compound library will enable researchers and pharmaceutical organizations to screen for biologically active structures against disease-relevant targets, with the ultimate goal of identifying novel therapeutic macrocycles for new drug development. Dr. Yudin will be working closely with pharmaceutical companies to build a library that will meet the needs of industry.

"This work has the potential to help change the face of drug development and expand the options available in the creation of new therapeutics," commented Dr. Mark Poznansky, President and CEO, OGI. "Dr. Yudin and his group are clearly poised to be key influencers in this area."

"We are delighted to receive the investment from OGI as we move closer to commercialization," commented Dr. Yudin. "Our initial endeavour to generate a library of compounds is based around fundamental properties of drug-like compounds. Our method of cyclizing peptides will allow us to grow our inventory of compounds to eventually compete on a global scale in this emerging area of constrained peptides."

In addition to the PBDF funding, the technology has received investment by MaRS Innovation, the commercialization agent for 16 Ontario-based research institutions.

"We see significant appetite in the market for viable discovery platforms for peptide based therapeutics. It is important that Dr. Yudin receives appropriate support at this early stage to maximize the potential of this work," commented Dr. Rafi Hofstein, President and CEO, MaRS Innovation. "At MaRS Innovation, we work with many of the Province's leading researchers to convert great science into commercial opportunities."

U of T's Innovations and Partnerships Office (IPO) is working in collaboration with MI and Dr. Yudin to commercialize his novel platform technology.

"The University of Toronto is grateful to the Ontario Genomics Institute for this investment in our research," said Dr. Peter Lewis, Associate Vice President, Research at U of T and Acting Assistant Vice President, IPO. "The PBDF award will be vital in helping U of T and MaRS Innovation to bring Dr. Yudin's innovation to the marketplace. Just as importantly, OGI's support will assist greatly in enabling Dr. Yudin's work to make a strong and positive impact on global society."

How to Pick the Right Ecommerce Cart | Computers and Technology

A quick search online shall let you see that when it comes to picking the right ecommerce cart for you there are several to choose from. These range from being free to the very expensive so the decision can often come down to your budget for the project.

Obviously the free ones are not going to be as good and shall only be the basic type but for some people with only a few products this may be enough. If you have a large inventory then you are always better going for the more expensive options as they are far more involved and capable of dealing with a lot more.

It may be worthwhile talking to an expert and see what they would recommend for your own project as they shall understand the various processes that shall be required. For example if you sell clothing then it has to be able to show sizes and colors and let people choose their own options and some software does not include this option.

Some are also limited in the number of ways people can pay for the items so look to see what the most popular gateways are and see if they are compatible. This software should be able to do everything for you and clearly checkout is the most important as this is where you make your money so get a gateway name that people trust.

Before you go ahead and buy always look at the demo as they should have one set up for both the public side and the admin side of things. This is going to let you get a taste of what it is like to use and study it carefully to see how complicated it is and if you understand how it all works.

So picking the right ecommerce cart is very important as it can actually make or break your entire business. It has to be able to do everything that you require so check the demos before committing yourself and potentially wasting a lot of money on software that is simply not adequate.

Q&A: What are the benefits of using a VA Home Loan? - Benefits ...

Question by KC: What are the benefits of using a VA Home Loan?

Best answer:

Answer by lulu muffin
Typically, if you get a VA loan, you will have a lower interest rate than at the bank. You also can get 100% financing while it is still considered a typical mortgage loan. Most mortgage loans that finance 100% of the cost are interest only or 20/80 loans, both of which have you paying nothing towards principal for a very long time in the loan. Meaning, that if housing costs continue to drop and you want to move, you still owe the bank the same amount that you bought the house for even though you have paid on in for years and cannot sell it for that much.

Look For Low Cost Bad Credit Auto Finance Rates

Regardless of whether you are searching for a brand-new motor vehicle, or you?re deciding on a pre-owned car, bad credit auto finance will unquestionably creep into your equation sooner or later. Therefore, my best advice would be to avoid rushing things. Take a look at as many providers as possible when you decide to financing your car. On a national level, companies are having trouble receiving their loans payments. In many cases, this means that banks don?t trust the public as much anymore, and good interest rates can be hard to come by. Despite these macro-economic factors, there is still a lot of money to be made in the auto industry, which means lenders are still willing to lend to qualified borrowers. If you only think of one thing when choosing your auto financing, think about your credit score. This is the most important fact in the way that you financing plan is decided.

When the particular date for your wedding ceremony is definite, the family along with the happy couple who are getting married start looking for information on how exactly wedding ceremony card must look, which include where to buy the wedding invitation card, and so forth. At the moment, everybody in the house begins offering tips relating to how the invitation card appears as the wedding invitation will quite definitely emulate your contentment. An Asian Wedding Invitations isn?t just a variety of bits of papers or material; it?s a way to welcome good friends, close relatives, as well as other well deemed people to the marriage ceremony. A wedding invite card includes lots of details about the programs which are likely to be held throughout the marriage function. Most of the common marriage programs are ? Mehndi, Dinner, DJ night and so on. The asian wedding invitation cards not simply provide information regarding the programs likely to be held but in addition supply information regarding the program routine and location.

Additionally, the asian wedding invitation supplies specific words and phrases which make your relatives and friends really feel comfortable, that is an important part of an invitation. Based on the location where the programs will be performed, lots of people place a location map within the wedding invitation card, which can be very beneficial to the individuals that are not used to the location where the matrimony is happening. In addition, the cost may also be considered while picking out the asian wedding invites. Aside from these problems, the largest dilemma occurs when you don?t have any idea about precisely where to buy the invitation cards. This can be a quite typical problem with most people. And a answer to this dilema is an online asian wedding invitations graphic designers and providers. A number of internet sites supply you with asian wedding invite cards online. Generally, asian wedding invites hold the picture of the deity. You can do this for a couple of main reasons: first, to provide a sense of uniqueness to guests and next, to produce the comfort through the deity. The most well-known deity could be the ?Ganesha?, that?s the God of great fortune.Or they could choose to go with a Butterfly Wedding Invitations which is also very customary.

It is extremely important to conserve the components including height and width of the card, the art print area and so on. A smaller scale wedding ceremony with an unnecessary amount of details is undesired. It is very important to select a font that appears nice and is particularly quickly understandable. Distinction in shades relating to the front of the invitation and also the art work is a superb concept since this has an extensive impact on the appearance and readability in the invitation. Eventually, you should select top quality stationary supplies because this is an important characteristic of a fantastic beautiful wedding card. Considering that wedding invitations are often put into an envelope, it is critical to pick the envelopes which accentuate the card in color, art and design. By continuing to keep the above mentioned components in mind, one can possibly choose asian wedding invitations that are old fashioned yet still exceptionally stylish.

After career success, Chenoweth is ready for love

NEW YORK (AP) ? Broadway? Check. TV? Check. Films? Check. Music? Books? Check those, too.

Professionally speaking, Kristin Chenoweth is at the top of her game. This year alone, in one week, she sang for President Barack Obama, Queen Elizabeth II and Oprah Winfrey, she said in an interview last week with The Associated Press.

Recently added to that list was a performance at the Grand Ole Opry, which Chenoweth said tickled her Southern relatives.

"If I leave my mark on this world, hopefully people will say, 'Wow, she did a lot of different things,'" Chenoweth said.

But the one thing the 43-year-old Chenoweth says is missing from her list of accomplishments is finding Mr. Right and settling down.

"I want to be married. I feel finally ready for that," she said. "Possibly (becoming) a mom someday, even if it's to animals. My goals might be different than doing all these amazing career things. I think the next chapter will be focusing more on my personal life."

On that note, Chenoweth said she can relate to a song by Dolly Parton called "Sacrifice."

"She talks about how much she's given up. She's given up relationships, being home with her family, missing out with her husband, not having a child, all of that I can relate to," Chenoweth said. "So, maybe this second chapter in my life will be different in that way. But, I'll always sing. Whoever that man is, He's got to accept that music is like my arms. I can't live without (them)."

Chenoweth's latest music endeavor is a country music album called "Some Lessons Learned," released last week.

She moved to Nashville for a couple of months to record the album. Chenoweth, who won a Tony in 1999 for "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown," said there are similarities between country music and theater.

"They're both story and character driven," she said. "So of course I like both."

Up next for Chenoweth is the TV show "Good Christian Belles." Think: "Desperate Housewives" but in the Bible Belt.

The ABC show, which doesn't yet have a premiere date, is about five Christian women living in Texas.

Chenoweth, a Christian, said there's a misconception about Christianity: "that we don't have any problems, we really judge people harshly." But she said her character is actually the villain on the show.

"She's a very judgmental woman. She stirs it up and then prays for everybody," Chenoweth said. "So these are the characters I grew up with."

Chenoweth also made waves as April Rhodes, a boozy former glee club star on the hit Fox show "Glee." The role earned her two Emmy nominations. If she's invited back and her schedule allows, she said she'd like to reprise the role.

"(The character) is a very fun train wreck. Couldn't be more dissimilar to myself," she said. "And she likes her box of wine. Who can't relate to that?"

ABC buys Steven Bochco's "Legal Affairs" (Reuters)

LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) ? Steven Bochco is heading back to court -- and to ABC.

The network has purchased a new legal drama from Bochco: "Legal Affairs" revolves around members of a Los Angeles law firm and their efforts to juggle their oft-intertwined personal and professional lives.

It's familiar territory for Bochco, on a number of levels. The "L.A. Law" creator has often drawn from the legal arena for material, most recently with the TNT drama "Raising the Bar," and his long-running relationship with ABC includes the cop drama "NYPD Blue," which ran for 12 seasons. (His other collaborations with ABC include "Commander in Chief" and "Philly.")

Bochco will co-executive produce "Legal Affairs" with Jonathan Abrahams, with whom he partnered on "Raising the Bar." The pair will also co-write the series. ABC Studios and Mojo Films are producing.

ABC also confirmed to TheWrap that it has purchased the pitch "Zero Hour" from former "Prison Break" executive producer Paul Scheuring.

The series is described as an "adventure about a skeptical everyman who gets swept up in one of history's greatest conspiracies" and ends up embarking on "a dangerous journey around the world collecting clues that will unlock not only a spectacular mystery surrounding the Twelve Apostles but also questions about his own identity."

"Transformers" and "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra" producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura and "Angela's Eyes" producers are attached to produce.

ABC's purchase of "Legal Affairs" was first reported by Deadline.

Commodore History Corner. Vandy students? 1897 cheer banned
Vanderbilt was in its eighth season of playing football when a shocking event occurred in 1897 at the Thanksgiving Day match with in-state rival Sewanee on the original Dudley Field. The word ?hell? had been used in the line of a popular cheer on campus by Vanderbilt students and spread into events as football. This caused uproar with the university administration and the city of Nashville.

Basic Gold Coin Investing | Investments

Investing in gold coins can be as simple or as complicated as you want to make it. If you?re just starting out on your gold investments, this basic gold coin investing strategy will simplify things greatly for you. This article will discuss the most popular and recognized gold coins you can invest in.

Basic Gold Investing-Gold Bullion Coins

If you?re just starting out with gold investments, I recommend investing in gold bullion first. Gold bullion has the least premium over the spot price (or melt value) of gold at the time of your purchase. So it?s the least expensive way to start acquiring gold. Gold bullion comes in coin or bar form with coins being more popular with U.S. Investors.

American Gold Eagle

This can easily be significant piece of this particular subject matter. My top recommendation for investing in gold bullion coins is the American Gold Eagle. First issued in 1986 by the U.S. Mint, American Gold Eagles are said to be the most popular gold bullion coins in the world. Each coin is minted in 22-karat solid gold and has an image of Lady Liberty on the obverse (front) and A Family of Eagles on the reverse.

Gold Investing: The Origin Of Buy Gold Bugs ? YouTube: (CLICK HERE FOR THE FULL REPORT) New scientific findings sugge?

American Gold Eagles are backed by the U. S. Government for weight, content and purity which is why they?re widely accepted (and quite easy to convert back to cash). American Eagle gold bullion coins can be purchased in 4 different denominations:

One-ounce with a fifty dollars face value; half-ounce with a twenty-five dollars face value; quarter-ounce with a face value of 10; and tenth-ounce with a five dollars face value. You?ll pay more of a premium over spot gold for the half, quarter and tenth-ounce coins than the one ounce coin.

Canadian Gold Maple Leaf

My second recommendation for investing in gold bullion are coins from our friends to the north ? the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf. Produced by the Royal Canadian Mint starting in 1979, these beautiful twenty-four karat gold coins are 99.99% pure gold (in 2007, the Royal Canadian Mint began producing 99.999% pure gold, one-ounce Maple Leaf coins). The Gold Maple Leaf has an image of Great Britain?s Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse side. The coin?s reverse image is that of a maple leaf ? Canada?s national symbol.

Gold Maple Leaf coins are guaranteed by the Government of Canada for their weight and purity. They?re as widely recognized and accepted as the U.S. Gold Eagle and make good investments. Gold Maple Leaf bullion coins can be purchased in the following sizes: one ounce with a face value of fifty Canadian dollars; half-ounce with a face value of twenty Canadian dollars; quarter-ounce with a face value of ten Canadian dollars; and tenth-ounce with a face value of five Canadian dollars. Premiums over spot gold are similar to that of the American Gold Eagles.

Let me caution you if you decide to invest in Canadian Gold Maple Leaf coins. Because gold is a soft metal, pure gold coins are easily scratched or nicked if not handled carefully. Always handle your coins by the edges only (regardless of what gold coin it?s) and be especially careful handling your Gold Maple Leaf coins.

South African Krugerrand

My third recommendation for investing in gold bullion coins is the South African Krugerrand. Produced by the South African Mint beginning in 1967, this coin gets its name from Paul Kruger, the last president of the Republic of South Africa, and the ?rand?, the monetary unit of South Africa. The one-ounce Krugerrand contains one troy ounce of gold and is alloyed with copper (1/12 copper, 11/12 pure gold) resulting in a 22-karat coin. They?re more durable and scratch-resistant than pure gold coins. The obverse side of the coin has the image of Paul Kruger. The coin?s reverse image is that of a springbok antelope, one of South Africa?s national symbols.

South African Krugerrands are as internationally recognized and accepted today as the American Gold Eagle and the Gold Maple Leaf. In the mid-1980?s, the U.S. Congress banned the importation of South African Krugerrands as part of the anti-South African boycott. Krugerrands already in this country were allowed to continue being traded. Because of this action, Krugerrands lost some of their luster (no pun intended). As a result, these coins have about the lowest premium and are among the cheapest way for you to own a one-ounce gold coin. Krugerrands also come in fractional sizes.

When Buying Gold Coins ? Buyer Beware

Before you start shopping for gold coins, let me just say that when the price of gold gets this high, precious metals dealers come ?out of the woodwork?. You must be careful when selecting a dealer as there have been several incidents over the years where precious metals dealers have gone out of business resulting in big losses for their customers. I?ll be writing a more complete article on finding good dealers at a later date.
